about

"Probably Priceless" showed the way, so "Voices" and "Before" came pretty quickly. By the time this song began revealing itself I wanted to try something different, so instead of a verse-chorus song it's a loop song. I (Michael) jammed to the opening bass line for a while, coming up with middle and high guitar parts, and the vocal melodies. The lyrics took their time, it was a while before I honed in on the overall point of view that the other songs came from.

lyrics

I want to commit the murder
The murder I was tried for
The reason I was held

Why why go through all the motions
I don’t intend to cry more
I don’t intend to sell

And now I know that we are always older
We are always older
We are always older and older

We let go of adolescence
We are killing awkward phases
All the young are dead

No returning to the pathways
The time it took to try more
The forest over grew

And now I know that we are always older
We are always older
We are always older and older and older and older and now

Every time I look another way back is a
Road I didn’t think could ever be lost and the
Patterns of behavior that I assumed were set in
Stone are never coming back from the grave and the
Doors are only ever closing behind us and the
Bridges burning up of their own accord and the
Automatic motions we have to take they are the
Ones we never realize can be used to break the

Rules
Now we have to break the rules
We have got to break the rules
Yes we have to break the rules

about

Tell Me Tell Me Oakland, California

Tell Me Tell Me is a dance grunge band from Oakland. Yearning melodies soar over melted guitar riffs and driving, danceable drum beats. The music celebrates loss at points of no return, and Tell Me Tell Me leads the ceremony.
Influences can be heard from LCD Soundsystem, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Dirty Projectors.
