about

This song was the key that unlocked the aesthetic for the next Tell Me Tell Me album. The guitar riff came one day when I was messing around with a whammy pedal. Everything else fell into place, the dancey drum beat, the winding melody, the simple chord structure, and the lyrics that deal with loss. This song was the path forward.

lyrics

Lyrics:

We have so much so many moreover
How to defend the probably priceless things
Ive been overtaken you’ve been overtaken we’ve been overtaken
How do the doors keep closing on us so fast

Too many others too many people
There’re no more others there’re only
Lovers cannot they cannot always fulfill
All of the functions all of the other needs
Family is over confidant is over no more communing
How to compete we are only human

Too many others too many people
There’re no more others there’s only
Lovers there’re no more
Others there’s only
Lovers there’re no more
Others there’s only
Lovers there’re no more
Others there’s only
There’s only there’s only

Lovers
Lovers
Lovers

How to defend the probably priceless things

about

Tell Me Tell Me Oakland, California

Tell Me Tell Me is a dance grunge band from Oakland. Yearning melodies soar over melted guitar riffs and driving, danceable drum beats. The music celebrates loss at points of no return, and Tell Me Tell Me leads the ceremony.
Influences can be heard from LCD Soundsystem, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Dirty Projectors.
